AMBULATORY SERVICE The office has an ambulatory vehicle in which we
make calls to the individuals home who have farm type animals. It carries
equipment and supplies for most routine type calls and for most emergencies.
It is helpful when the client calls the office to tell the receptionist
what type of emergency they have in order for us to determine that we
have sufficient equipment to adequately handle the situation.
Calls are made within a radius of 50 miles and an attempt is made to geographically
schedule the calls in order that we may more efficiently complete the
visits. Being that, if an emergency is called in from the other side of
our territory, it may take a while for us to make the trip or we will
suggest another veterinarian to assist if that is more agreeable to the
client.
The vehicle is equipped with a 2-way radio and a cell phone to more efficiently
handle client visits and to answer client concerns. It is also equipped
with a refrigerator, running water and lighted for after dark service.
The vehicle usually accumulates about 50,000 miles per year.
