Spaying and Neutering

The Importance of Spaying and Neutering

Surgical sterilization of pets does more that control population. The added advantages make a better pet to have. Wandering is controlled, having other dogs around is reduced, accidental matings do not exist and a reduction in certain types of tumors is evident.

Many pets after surgery are friendlier, become easier to train and become more human oriented. In some cases, even less food is needed to keep them in good shape.

The only reason to keep pets intact is for specific breeding cases. After the breeding career is ended, sterilization should be done to decrease the chances of geriatric conditions such as infection of the uterus and prostate enlargement.
