Vaccinations for Your Dog

Puppies need a series of vaccination to protect them from the common diseases that puppies get. A series is required because the interference of protection from the mother can inhibit production of protective antibodies in the puppy. Only after a proper series is administered, will a puppy be protected for all the diseases in the vaccine.

After your pet has reached one year of age, vaccinations should be given each year and be maintained on a regular schedule.  Here are a few facts:

  • In order to receive a health certificate or rabies certificate and tag, the vaccination must be given by a licensed veterinarian.
  • A yearly visit to the veterinarian for vaccinations also includes a general checkup!
